Privacy Policy – PixelChess

Operator: Just Luck LLC (“we”, “us”) provides the mobile application PixelChess (package / bundle ID: io.justluck.pixelchess). This policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when you use the app.

1. Information we collect

• Account data (optional): If you sign in, we may process email address, display name, profile photo URL, and a unique user ID. Sign-in methods include email/password, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or anonymous guest mode.
• Gameplay and profile data: Statistics, streaks, badges, unlocked themes, puzzle progress, and preferences may be stored locally and, when signed in, synced to our backend (Firebase Firestore).
• Profile photos: If you upload a custom avatar (email accounts), the image is stored in Firebase Storage.
• Purchase data: In-app purchase and entitlement status is processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
• Advertising data (when ads are shown): Unity Ads may process advertising identifiers (e.g. GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS when available), device type, language, app version, IP address (often approximate), and ad interaction data for serving and measuring ads.
• Analytics and diagnostics: Firebase Analytics and related Google services may collect aggregated usage and technical data to improve stability and understand feature usage.
• Notifications: If you enable reminders, we use local notifications on your device; push infrastructure may involve Firebase Cloud Messaging and platform services (APNs on iOS).

2. How we use information

• Provide chess gameplay, puzzles, themes, audio, and account features.
• Save progress, statistics, and purchases across sessions and devices (when signed in).
• Process in-app purchases and restore entitlements.
• Show ads through Unity Ads unless you have an ad-free entitlement.
• Improve the app, fix bugs, and understand aggregated usage.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to support requests.

3. Guest mode

You may use PixelChess as a guest (anonymous Firebase Auth session) without providing an email. Guest data is more limited and may not sync across devices. Creating a registered account lets you link progress and use profile features.

4. Advertising

Ads may be served through Unity Ads (Unity Technologies). Users who purchase an ad-free entitlement may not see certain ad formats. Unity processes data under its own privacy policy: Unity Privacy Policy.

5. Third-party services

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data retention and deletion

We retain data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may delete your account from Settings → Delete my account in the app. This removes your Firebase Auth account and associated Firestore profile data in ordinary operation. Some anonymized analytics may remain in aggregated form.

7. Children’s privacy

PixelChess is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data.

8. International users & your rights

Depending on your location (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last reviewed” date above will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
